Aspect Solar Featured in Ski Mountaineering Documentary

AspectSolar, a provide of solar power and technology, was recently featured as the technology provider for Montezuma Basin Productions, the producer of documentaries that include “Skiing Everest.” AspectSolar solar power technologies, including the EP-‐55 Solar Panel and the EnergyBar 250, were the exclusive power provider for a ski mountaineering expedition in January of 2014, powering the cameras and electronic equipment for an upcoming documentary.

The Montezuma Basin Productions team was seeking a power solution that could stand up to the most demanding conditions. During their expedition to Western China, temperatures dropped to under -‐100 degrees Fahrenheit, and wind speeds could exceed over 100 miles per hour. Because of the advanced power behind the EnergyBar 250, and the maximum power point tracking technology behind AspectSolar’s solar panels, AspectSolar’s products were chosen to keep cameras, computers, heated footbeds and other field production electronics powered on the side of the mountain.

“The need for efficient power was critical for not only the film project but for our well being in general,” said Mike Marlot, Executive Producer at Montezuma Basin Productions. “Aspect solar offered us the absolute best system we have used in 25 years climbing and skiing the highest peaks in the world. The system not only powered all our equipment, but it kept our base camp dome tent lit in the evenings. Simply put: Aspect Solar will positively change the way people expedition to remote mountains and areas forever.”
