American Made Outdoor Gear Award Enters 5th Season

The American Made Outdoor Gear Award (AMOGA) is calling on domestic manufactures to submit their “made in America” stories for the 2017 American Made Outdoor Gear Awards.  The annual award program, which celebrates domestic manufacturing in the outdoor industry, will begin accepting entries for the 2017 awards on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, the opening day of the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Founded by Kokatat, the paddlesports apparel and gear company known for its longstanding commitment to American manufacturing, the program is targeted to the outdoor industry and is open to all companies with a solid commitment to American manufacturing and sourcing that have a compelling story to tell.

The company with the best “made in America” story receives one-year ownership of the ‘Sassy’ travelling trophy — a hand carved, redwood Sasquatch from Humboldt County, CA. Category winners receive miniature versions of the award and finalists and all entrants receive a certificate of participation.

“We look forward to hearing and sharing the stories of amazing companies who are creating incredible goods in the U.S.,” said Jeff Turner, Kokatat sales manager.

Past keepers of ‘Sassy’ include Liberty Bottleworks (www.libertybottles.com) of Yakima, WA, Benchmade Knives (www.sterlingrope.com) of Biddeford, ME, and current warden of the trophy Hyperlite Mountain Gear (www.hyperlitemountaingear.com) also of Biddeford, ME.

Beginning Wednesday August 3, applications for the 2017 AMOGA can be completed  online at . Applications must be completed by October 31, 2016.
