America Outdoors Conference Registration Open

America Outdoors announced registration and agenda for the 2020 America Outdoors Virtual Conference & Outfitter Expo. With more than 25 available breakout sessions, three general sessions and four networking hours, the program, adapted for virtual learning, reflects the association’s commitment to education for outfitter businesses.

“I, like everyone, will miss gathering in-person this year,” said executive director Aaron Bannon, reflecting on the adaptations the association has made in 2020. “We are making the most of our situation, maximizing the opportunities for meaningful connections with peers and exhibitors through our virtual platform. And we look forward to a big gathering again next year in Las Vegas.

“While the community vibe is hard to replicate, there are some advantages to a virtual meeting,” Bannon stated. “Many of our smaller outfitters cannot take on the costs of travel and lodging for their whole team. This year will give all our members the chance to attend and bring additional interested parties. We’re optimizing this by adding a brand-new program track for front-line managers.”

The Managers Track includes four dedicated sessions for front-line managers to get professional continuing education they do not usually have access to until they have a greater responsibility in a company. “We believe it is important to expand the skillsets of managers who are carrying out day-to-day operations objectives. This level of training will help managers understand the big picture of their organization,” Bannon continued.

The theme for the 2020 virtual event is Unlocking the Wisdom Within. The conference will focus on risk management, leadership, marketing, and operations by tapping into the immense knowledge that exists within the outdoor recreation industry. At the same time, America Outdoors is reaching out to a broader crowd with an inclusive message.

“There are some incredible resources across the industry. We are creating a space where all can share their stories and expertise with our membership to help us all grow in meaningful ways. We look forward to leaning into the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion conversation in 2020 and are committed to continuing the work,” Bannon said.
