Amazon opened its ninth and tenth brick-and-mortar bookstores last week — one in Bellevue, Wash., and one San Jose, Calif. With plans to open three more by the end of the year, it’s clear this is no longer an “experiment” but a long-term physical retail play and strategy.
“How many is it? We don’t know yet, but we’re really excited about the results,” said Jennifer Cast, vice president of the Amazon Books unit. “We’d like to be able to have as many stores as would make sense.”
