Allied Feather & Down Develops Traceability Program

Allied Feather & Down, a supplier of down to the outdoor recreation market, is launching its own global traceability initiative. The move is being done in support of establishing industry standards for transparency in supply chain management.

Allied long ago began requiring certifications from suppliers and independent, third-party audits, says the company. Allied Feather is now expanding its traceability system across its entire network, making possible the tracking of raw material back to from the geographic region where the down was gathered.

Detais of the program will be made available at Outdoor Retailer this month in Salt Lake City.

In related news, Allied Feather & Down will also show three new fill technologies:

ThermaDown, a natural, infra-red technology that works with the wearer’s own body heat to keep the user at a comfortable temperature as the exterior environment he is in changes.

FX Down, an innovative, blended fill that feels and acts much like down and has much the same loft and warmth qualities, but is available at a lower price. Garments can be washed.

HyperDRY, a water resistant technology for outdoor recreation apparel and equipment fill that offers far superior resistance to moisture penetration than any competitor products.

BioDown, a proprietary, anti-microbial fill that prevents microorganism and bacteria build up in garments or camping equipment that might be subjected to moisture in outdoor environments.
