SUMMER
2017
18
Most of us can relate. You
spend the extra dough to get
the latest frame style wrapped
around sweet optics loaded
with all the performance coat-
ings and physics. Bright sun, or
partially shady, you are looking
good and seeing even better.
Yet it’s only a matter of time
before a fumble for the keys or
a deep bend when the glasses
are perched on top of your
head sends those new shades
to the ground, lens first. There
may be only one tiny scratch,
but it’s straight in your line of
sight – almost as if the sun-
glasses are ruined.
The feeling can be even
worse if the first drop comes
later and those glasses have
solidified their place as your
go-to sunglasses.
No worries, assuming those
are Sunski sunglasses, thanks
to the San Francisco-based
company’s lens replacement kits.
If any pair of Sunskis suffers a
busted, scratched or otherwise
damaged lens, Sunski will ship
a replacement set. Replacement
kits are relatively affordable, cur-
rently $5 for all Sunski styles, and
shipping is free. (SRPs for Sunski
shades range from about $50
to $60.) To remove a damaged
lens, customers simply place the
sunglasses in direct, indoor sun-
light to warm-up the frames, pop
out the old lenses and slide in
the replacements (kits come with
step-by-step instructions).
But what, there’s more. Sun-
ski also offers a lifetime warranty
on its frames. If the frame or
hinges on a pair of Sunskis suf-
fers any sort of “catastrophic”
damage, “we will repair or
replace them free of charge,”
says the company. Customers
are asked to send in photos of the
damage and may not even have
to send the original pair back.
“Worrying about your shades
should never get in the way of
all the fun stuff. That’s why all
Sunskis are backed by a lifetime
warranty,” said Tom Stewart, Sun-
ski co-founder. “If you break your
shades in any way (snapped
frames, busted lenses, dog
damage, melted in lava, etc.)
we’ll make it right.”
