Inventory liquidation sales are under way at all Gander Mountain store locations throughout the Midwest and Eastern U.S. Camping World, which agreed to acquire a minimum of 17 stores, will reopen some store after the liquidation but has yet to announce the specific locations.
The nationwide sale is being conducted by a consortium consisting of Tiger Capital Group, Great American Group, Gordon Brothers and Hilco Merchant Resources. Gander Mountain has 160 stores. Of those, 32 were already in the process of being liquidated soon after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on March 10.
According to Marcus Lemonis, owner of Camping World, the company acquired the intellectual property, trademarks and rights to the leases, while the liquidators assumed all the inventory. He said he expects to keep re-open about 70 stores.
