According to KOA, about 18 percent of those introduced to camping in 2020 will camp in 2021. Looking at KOA data more optimisti- cally, about four in 10 new campers said they were likely or very likely to return to a campsite in 2021. RV Shipments Soar While some members of the RV industry faced serious sales struggles as recently as last year, the RV Industry Association’s November 2020 survey of manufacturers found that total RV shipments finished the month with 42,513 units shipped, an increase of 43.4% from the 29,644 units shipped in November 2019 and the highest shipments ever for the month of November. For the year, towable RVs are up 5.5%, while motorhome sales contin- ue to slide, down 15.6%, but “van camper” sales specifi- cally skyrocketed in 2020, up 63%.
