Osprey The new Mutant series of streamlined alpine-focused packs promises more ef- ficient and ultimately safer movement in the mountains, says Osprey. Highlights include a Snowshed fabric backpanel, dual ToolLocks with bungee tie-offs, front panel daisy chain for additional gear attachment, a three-point haul system and internal hydration pocket. Pacsafe The 34-liter Venture- safe X34 backpack provides a structured internal aluminum frame and has enough room for minimalists to hit the road with all es- sentials – 15-inch lap- top, hydration pack, clothes and more. There’s also anti-theft technology and smart organization. SRP is $179.95. Ortlieb The Gear-Pack brings two worlds together by combining the pros of a drybag with the advantages of a backpack. The waist strap, shoulder straps and inner pad are mounted to the bag with strong Velcro and nylon webbing, while daisy chains are on the front and sides for mount- ing additional accessories. Made in Germany, the Gear-Pack is available in three sizes (25 liters, 32 liters and 40 liters). Obermeyer Obermeyer unveils its first-ever fall heritage collection, offering lifestyle items for the outdoor enthusiast. Part of the collection, the Down Snowshirt features 1970s style with the latest in technology, including 550-fill power duck down insulation and a stylish patch chest pocket with a snap closure. Outdoor Research The Refuge Hooded Jacket introduces VerticalX insula- tion, a high-loft synthetic insulation that uses an internal fabric pattern that overlaps vertically, trapping warmth inside the jacket. In addition, the way it is manufactured without an internal backer, standard in many synthetic insu- lations, means there is less of a barrier to moisture moving through the jacket, says OR.
