So moving forward, each issue of IO will be organized a little differently in order to better serve both our readers and business partners. Along with a new look and feel (courtesy of our long-time art directory Percy Zamora), each issue of Inside Outdoor will be divided into recurring coverage areas targeted toward the key and growing segments that sit at the core of the outdoor specialty retail business. Coverage, for instance, of the all-important outdoor components and materials – the things that go inside our playthings – can now be regularly found in the new “Ingredients” section, while retail buyers and owner operators will be able to quick- ly flip to the new “Tech Savvy” department to find the latest in the retail technology that keeps them competitive. “Buyer’s Side” is dedicated to research and advice for improving store and floor operations. Within the pages of “Made in Americas,” we’ll highlight products made right here in North and Central America and tell the stories of the brave companies that have made the choice to source and manufacture locally. Meanwhile, the even braver people and organizations that are fighting the fight to save our planet and societies will be featured regularly within “The Advocates.” Then at one end of the spectrum, products and retail technologies from smaller companies, innovative start-ups and disruptors will be presented in “Start ‘em Up,” while “Brand Watch” keeps track of the market-changing moves by established and leading active and outdoor specialty brands. The impetus behind this re-organization was to let readers know they can get regularly access to content that is most pertinent to their businesses or to a cur- rent need, while advertisers will be able to reliably surround their marketing with the content that is most relevant to their messaging strategies. And that’s not all. Along with announcing our relaunch of sorts, I’d also like to take this time to introduce Gerald Baldino, our new managing editor. Gerald comes to us from the B2B technology content space. He enjoys kaya- king, cycling and discovering new places to hike. He also adds another huge baseball fan to our roster (and another bat in the lineup for the next outdoor media softball game). Gerald will be at the Outdoor Retailer Show this July in Denver, so please stop him and say hello if you pass in the aisles or pop by our booth. Or feel free to hit him up at gerald@bekabusinessmedia.com or @InsideOutdoorMg. In the meantime, I’d love to hear what you think about the new Inside Outdoor . Here’s to 16, and a thank you for allowing us the opportunity during the past 16 years to be a part of an outdoor community made up of truly kind, happy and inspirational people. – MV From the Editor Corporate Headquarters 15560 N Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd Suite B4 – 5433 Scottsdale, AZ 85260 Voice: 480.503.0770 Fax: 480.503.0990 Email: berge@bekabusinessmedia.com © 2018 Beka Business Media, All rights reserved.
