Supai Adventure Gear Canyon Flatwater Boat Designed to be small, compact and affordable, the Canyon Flatwater weighs about 1.5 pounds with internal seat- ing dimensions of 45” X 19.5” and outer dimensions inflated of 68.5” X 42”. It packs down to about the size of a Nalgene bottle. Features include one internal gear attachment point and a large dump valve for easy deflation. Supai rafts are inflated via a large inflation valve to get the boat 90% to 95% full and then topped off after placing a nylon cap with a tube valve over the inflation valve. Supai provides a five-year repair or replace guaran- tee on the workmanship of its boats. SRP is $300. Feathercraft BayLee Beast The tube fabric of the Beast is 210 denier urethane coated nylon. Floor fabric is an 840 denier urethane coated ballistic nylon. Urethane is as robust as the heavy hypalon inflatables, says Feathercraft, but is lighter in weight. The self-bailing floor is constructed with five separate inflatable tubes within an abrasion resistant fabric sandwich. Feathercraft’s river rafts are a little longer than most other rafts, moving the center of balance forward and improving performance, says the company. Other features of the Beast include inflatable seat back and bottom, two gear slings, perim- eter line, skeg, foot brace, double action pump, repair kit and stuff sack. SRP is around $2,200. Alpacka Raft Caribou The Caribou is the lightest and most packable full-size packraft ever offered by Alpacka. A new bow design at the front of the boat means the boat is built to carry bikes, full- sized packs, big game and other heavy loads, while keep- ing the boat balanced on and off water. The Caribou weighs in at 4 pounds and 12 ounces and is handmade in Mancos, Colo., with 210D high-count nylon polyurethane coated tubes and an 840D nylon floor. A single valve provides high pressure one-way inflation and easy deflation with a quick twist of the valve core. SRP is $795 without the Cargo Fly and $945 with. Blowing Up The latest in packrafts NRS PackRaft Weighing in at about 7.4 pounds and measuring just under 7-feet long, the PackRaft is made with polyurethane-coated nylon at 70D in the tubes and 210D for the floor. Deflated, it fits into an 18” x 15” x 5” space, making it easy enough to throw in a pack or on the back of an ATV. Two inflation chambers in the tubes, the inflatable seat and removable floor insert provide maximum safety margins, and each of the tube chambers has a large opening, inflation/deflation valve and a second smaller twist valve for top off and pressure adjustment. Four front and two rear webbing tie-down points provide plenty of places to lash on packs and other gear. SRP is $575. Inside Outdoor | SPRING 2018 24
