The votes have been counted, and EORA/NESR has announced the 2018 award winners for New England Winter Regional Retailer of the Year and New England Winter Regional Rep of the Year. Based on a voting process that included all the New England winter sales reps, Rich Brachold, owner of Village Ski & Snowboard Shop in Franklin, Mass., earned the Winter Retailer of the Year award. Brach- ford and his wife Nancy started their business in 1988 and for many years carried a wide range of products. Since 2000, they’ve specialized in just skiing and snowboarding and service a dedicated customer base from all over the region. Brad Bunker was named the 2018 Winter Rep of the Year. Bunker has been a member of the asso- ciation since 1976 and represents Dare2B, Reusch Gloves, Purnell and Elan Blanc. He lives with his family in New Hampshire. Congratulations to both winners for being acknowledged by their peers for their exceptional contribu- tions to the industry. ROC Gear Inc., manufacturers of Mad Water waterproof gear, an- nounced Evernew Inc. as the new Mad Water distributor for Japan. Based in Tokyo, Japan, Evernew will distribute the full range of waterproof bags and backpacks in the Mad Water product line. This distribution agree- ment will include both the Classic Roll-Top and Extreme Submersible ranges of products. The cooperation between ROC Gear and Evernew allows ROC Gear to market its USA- made Extreme Submersible products to an ever-growing global market appreciative of the quality offered by USA-made goods, said the company. Originally operating out of a small Tokyo store front in the 1920s, today Evernew manufactures premium camping accessories for the world- wide outdoor market and distributes into Japan a group of premium global sports and outdoor brands. Coinci- dentally, there is another tie back to Tokyo, Japan. The supplier for Mad Water’s extreme submersible zippers is the global fastener manufacturer YKK. And while these USA-made spe- cialty waterproof zippers come from YKK’s Macon, Ga., manufacturing facility, the YKK company was birthed out of Tokyo in the 1930s, just a de- cade after Evernew opened its first store in Tokyo. And still today, both Evernew and YKK have their head- quarters in Tokyo – a short 20 minute drive apart.
