Inside Outdoor | FALL 2018 14 The opportunity So where do outdoor specialty re- tailers come into play? Lyfx can help retailers drive profits by lubricating the entire sales funnel, from top to bottom. At the top of the sales funnel, Lyfx creates new and positive outdoor ex- periences for participants of all skill levels, with a local twist. “Lyfx gives adventure seekers an opportunity to wander off the beaten path with experienced locals and not feel lost,” McCardell explained. “Locals know and love their backyard better than anyone else and take pride in showing off the beauty that surrounds them, while also protecting it. We believe that having a shared experience between a local and trav- eler makes an adventure more per- sonal, unique and memorable.” As people sign up for adventures, this in turn generates more in-store traffic for local retailers. The service is especially useful for retailers in remote areas. Oftentimes, for in- stance, participants show up com- pletely unprepared for outings and require basic items before setting out for the day. “Most travelers are not prepared for the sudden weather changes that come with elevation gain/loss,” ex- plained Brent Compton, a Colorado- based Lyfx expert. “I always remind them to dress in layers and to bring a reusable water container. At eleva- tion and in our dry climate, your body uses up triple the amount of water that it does at sea level, and often times people are not aware of how this impacts their bodies.” Tech Savvy McCardell chats with Lyfx local expert kenneth j hamilton / Rumney, nh nanospikes is a trademark of kahtoola inc.
