Sazzi to Create Recyclable In-store Display Material

Sazzi Footwear in partnership with PLUSfoam Compound Technologies has developed a line of 100% recyclable in-store display material for the footwear brand, available to retail stores this spring.

Last year, Sazzi teamed up with PLUSfoam to manufacture its line of 100% recyclable sport sandals. In addition to using PLUSfoam for the outsole, shank, midsole, insole and upper components, the sandals come with hangers made of PLUSfoam and shoe bags made of PET fabric, which is also 100% recyclable.

“We were already using the team at PLUSfoam to help create our sandals and packaging,” said General Manager Brian Walton. “We challenged them to create a line of in-store POP as well. We wanted the Sazzi story to be one of extreme comfort and functionality, but we felt the environmental story behind PLUSfoam was equally important. If we can make 100% recyclable footwear, why not do the same with our POP material?”

PLUSfoam is a performance-based, 100% recyclable material designed to replace traditional foams, rubbers and plastics. Products made with PLUSfoam yield virtually zero post manufacturing waste and can be returned to PLUSfoam and recycled, says the company. All PLUSfoam-based compounds are closed cell and therefore non-absorbent, non-microbial and are also non-marking. In addition to recycling Sazzi footwear, PLUSfoam Compound Technologies will also recycle Sazzi POP at the end of its usable life.

The Sazzi POP line, currently shipping with Spring 2013 orders, consists of shoe shelves, in-store banners in two sizes, an end cap for grid and slatwall pegs and a counter top display. Each of these POP products communicates the “recycle @ PLUSfoam” messagings. Sazzi plans to expand its POP selection made with PLUSfoam in Spring 2014.
