OIWC Recognizes McCoy with Lifetime Achievement Award

The Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC), a national organization dedicated to expanding opportunities for women in the outdoor, snow, run, and bike industries, recently recognized Sally McCoy, longtime CamelBak CEO, with its OIWC Lifetime Achievement Award. McCoy was recognized at the 2016 OIWC Keynote and Leadership Awards at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 9 in front of more than 400 attendees.

“Sally has been a long-standing advocate for women in the outdoor industry” said Julia Day, OIWC Board President and executive director business development – sports of The NPD Group Sports & Leisure Trends. “Her commitment to ensuring that women have a place at the decision-making table, and her support of OIWC, has completely transformed the industry.”

With more than 30 years in the outdoor industry, McCoy announced she would be stepping down as the chief executive officer of CamelBak starting February 1.

Prior to CamelBak, McCoy co-founded Silver Steep Partners—a financial advisory firm specializing exclusively in the outdoor industry. She also served as Vice President at The North Face and President of Sierra Designs and Ultimate Direction. She was a founding member of Conservation Alliance and the Outdoor Industry Alliance (OIA) and served as board chair of each. McCoy currently serves on the board for Zumiez, retailer of skate and snow apparel and accessories

“Sally is truly a pioneer,” said Ann Krcik, senior director of brand communication and outdoor exploration at The North Face. “She will leave a lasting legacy in the outdoor industry that will be felt for years to come.”
