Mountainsmith Named Big City Mountaineers Corporate Partner

Mountainsmith announced a renewed partnership of Big City Mountaineers, a Golden, Colo.-based organization focused on mentoring under-served urban youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions that instill critical life skills. Mountainsmith has donated an arsenal of Pyrite 7075 trekking poles in an effort to upgrade and grow Big City Mountaineers’ equipment inventory.

With Mountainsmith’s equipment donation, Big City Mountaineering will continue to serve, educate and help over 1,000 of the nation’s youth to realize their own potential through their outdoor programs, said the group.

“We are very excited to have Mountainsmith join us once again as a corporate partner,” says Big City Mountaineers Corporate Relations Director Doug Sandok. “It will be great to have their trekking poles in the field with our teens this summer and we are grateful to have our neighbor here in Golden supporting us.”

Mountainsmith has made it a priority to serve their home in Golden, Colo., over the past 37 years, and partnerships with local, like-minded organizations like Big City Mountaineers are an integral part of Mountainsmith’s community involvement.

“Mountainsmith is thrilled to support the efforts of Big City Mountaineers and enhance the experience of the aspiring outdoors people in their program,” says Jay Getzel, President of Mountainsmith. ”They are effectively creating the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and we look forward to playing a role in this process via our partnership.”
