Fleet Feet Sports Acquires GoRun Wichita

Running and fiteness specialty retailer Fleet Feet Sports announced the acquisition of GoRun Wichita, a leading running specialty store with two locations in Wichita, Kansas. The purchase marks Fleet Feet Sports’ entry into Kansas.

Co-owners Kevin Swinicki and Randy Mijares opened GoRun Wichita in 2010 with the goal of developing a strong fitness, running-centric community. During the course of five years, Swinicki, Mijares, and GoRun’s staff created programs and events aimed at both sustaining health and wellness for the community and welcoming runners of all ages and abilities.

“Because of the extraordinary support of our loyal customers and staff, we have seen tremendous growth in the Wichita running community over these last five years,” says Swinicki. “We are committed to enhancing and growing every service and every experience for our customers and staff, and to that end, know we’ve found the perfect partner in Fleet Feet Sports.”

As of early March, Swinicki and Mijares will exit the business to pursue new business opportunities, and Midwest native Joel Stansloski will assume operational control of both stores. Stansloski spent the past six years working as general manager of retail operations for Fleet Feet Sports’ two-store franchise in Tulsa, Ok. In September 2014, Stansloski entered into the Fleet Feet Sports operating partner training program with the goal of returning to his Midwest roots with his family to operate a Fleet Feet Sports location.

“I’m excited to live here in Wichita where there’s such a vibrant and active running community,” says Stansloski. “I’m looking forward to continuing what Kevin and Randy started, and serving the customers, working with the staff, and bringing the support and resources of Fleet Feet Sports to the great state of Kansas.”

“We are excited about the future and remain profoundly grateful,” says Mijares. “GoRun’s focus on our customers, the community, our staff, and welcoming people with open arms will remain. Only now, all will have the support of a company with an enormous capacity and network of resources to grow our local running community.”
