Big Agnes Expands Distribution Capabilities

Big Agnes announced distribution expansion plans designed to help meet growing demand for its products domestically and internationally and to decrease shipping time and increase efficiency, said the company. Plans include a second domestic warehouse facility and third party fulfillment centers in Canada and Europe. The company also recently announced its move into a new, larger headquarters building in Steamboat Springs.

The company will open a second distribution center outside of Salt Lake City, Utah, in December. To help service international accounts, Big Agnes will open third-party distribution facilities in Canada and Rotterdam, Netherlands. These moves will increase the number of employment opportunities for the company both in Steamboat Springs and Salt Lake City, said Big Agnes.

Howard Peterson has been hired to manage operations at the new Salt Lake City facility. Peterson has worked in various management capacities including distribution, manufacturing and logistics roles at brands such as The Coleman Company, Smith Sport Optics and Quality Bicycle Products.

“We exceeded our warehouse and fulfillment capacity here in Steamboat Springs several years ago,” said Bill Gamber, company co-founder and president. “We were able to make things work but it’s time to invest in our future. We’re excited about these moves and the opportunity to work with Howard to streamline our shipping operation here in the US and increase the level of service we can provide to our customers around the world. We’re proud of the reputation Big Agnes has achieved with our retailers for service and shipping and this should only improve our standing.”
